Villa Morosini

Polesella (RO)

Villa Morosini, one of the most beautiful and important Venetian Villas in the Polesine area, is located below the left bank of the Po River, about one kilometer from the village of Polesella, in the province of Rovigo. A masterpiece of ancient architecture, it was commissioned by Pietro Morosini, father of the famous Doge Francesco Morosini, who used it as a summer residence and, when necessary, as a base for his land and commercial activities.
Its construction is attributed to architect Vincenzo Scamozzi, a student of the renowned Andrea Palladio. Works began in the late 16th century, restoring an old 15th-century Ferrarese residence.

The Villa houses a valuable permanent art collection, featuring works by great names such as Gianbattista Tiepolo, Sebastiano Ricci and Giovanni Battista Piazzetta, Virgilio Guidi, Emilio Vedova, and many others. It is also a sought-after location for cultural events and exhibitions.
The remarkable park around it is bordered by a wall with two observation towers. In the past, and still today, was a place of recreation and exchange where the Morosini family used to organize parties, shows and meetings.
