Museum of River Navigation
Battaglia Terme (PD)

The exhibition offers a journey into the fascinating world of river transport and the memory of the community of "barcari, squeraroli, cavalanti, and scariolanti," custodians of a thousand-year-old wisdom that still shapes the identity and history of the town and the surrounding area.
Spread across three floors and five rooms, it displays objects, documents, photographs, models, maps, and plans, collected by several former boatmen since the late 1970s. These tell the story of inland navigation, the hydraulic engineering works still visible in the town and surrounding area, shipbuilding activity, vessel types, life on board, roles, workers, and professions.
Born from the need to give an organic structure to this collection, the museum today represents the culmination of a long process of recovering the memory and traditions of a now-vanished social, economic, and cultural system. This process, thanks to the still tangible dialogue with the village, makes it a true "widespread museum" to be discovered and loved in all its extraordinary complexity.
