Museo Villa Bassi Rathgeb

Abano Terme (PD)

Villa Bassi Rathgeb (formerly Secco, Dondi dall'Orologio, and Zasio) in Abano Terme (Padua) is a true Venetian villa, a place where agricultural activities were carried out, linked, according to classical ideals, to a healthy, virtuous, and leisurely lifestyle for the owners. Inaugurated in December 2018, the city's Civic Museum offers visitors a highly evocative artistic journey. The rooms, frescoed between the 18th and 19th centuries, have been completely renovated, highlighting the 18th-century stucco decorations created by Venetian craftsmen and embellished by the exhibition.

The Villa Bassi Rathgeb Museum features a permanent collection of approximately 400 works: paintings, drawings, engravings, miniatures, archaeological finds, antique armor, objects and furniture, and artworks by prestigious artists such as Tiepolo, Giovan Battista Moroni, Guido Reni, and the Flemish artist Abraham Van Beyeren, donated to the Municipality of Abano forty years ago by Roberto Bassi Rathgeb.

The Villa hosts temporary exhibitions and numerous cultural activities.
